Balancing the Mind & Body

By all means, never fail to get all the sunshine and fresh air you can.
— Joesph Pilates

With the Fall on the horizon, I feel drawn to the quote above as a reminder to squeeze out the last moments of summer. We all know how a little bit of sun can brighten our mood and a few deep breaths can calm our anxieties. This quote also goes deeper than that and brings attention to living a balanced life that can center our bodies and minds. Living in this very busy world of today, when our brains are over stimulated and our bodies are constantly moving, Joesph Pilates reminds us to slow down to take in nature and breathe deeply.

So as we all begin settling into the next season, I want to challenge you to find moments of balance that bring sunshine and air into your life. Maybe you take a 10 minute walk, or drink your morning coffee or tea outside, or maybe our weekly pilates session give you this balance (I would be honored!). My hope is that this reminds you to slow down and bring intention into the little moments of life.

This picture is an image of Joesph Pilates, the man himself, at age 57. Whenever I look at this picture, I can’t believe he is in his late 50’s. He looks like he could be 32. May we all feel as youthful as Mr. Pilates looks in this photo.
